The maximum period of registration for a domain name is 10 years. Usually the whole process will take up to 5-7 days. This depends on the outgoing registrar and it is not always possible to speed it up. However, your money will stay safely in escrow during this process until you are fully satisfied that the domain name is in your possession and ownership.
